Oystercatchers is a traditional 1 ½ storey house, sleeping up to 6 adults in 3 bedrooms. It is 4 star listed by Visit Scotland and is being gradually upgraded to keep this standard. It is located just 10 minutes from the Skye bridge or 20 minutes from the Mallaig-Armadale ferry if you fancy coming ‘over the sea’, yet as it is off the main A87, located on a private road, it is a true oasis of peace and quiet. The house and gardens stretch down to a tidal inlet overlooking the Ardnish Peninsula.
'We come to Skye frequently to visit family ... Lovely house in an amazing location. I am sure we will be back.'
N & C Cameron - Aberdeen/Inverness, May 2015.
'As always the cottage is warm and welcoming. So relaxing - the only sound was the birds.'
J Wrench - Harrogate, June 2015
'Surprised by excellent location, cottage very well equipped, everything I would imagine for a perfect holiday' - Czech Republic, Singapore, June 2015
'Beautiful cottage. We loved watching the otters and birds outside. Skye is such a stunning place to be and the cottage was perfect base for exploring. Really comfortable. We have all had a great holiday here' - Faith and Steve and family - Glasgow, August 2015.
The house was built in 1902 and has recently been fully refurbished to a very high standard - with a modern heating system, individually controlled in each room, a wood burning stove, 2 bath/shower rooms, wireless Internet access and new white goods (dishwasher, fridge, tumble dryer, and washing machine). There are 2 twin bedded rooms and one double. We also provide a travel cot and high chair (so little ones can also be accommodated - in safety as a fireguard and stair gates are also available).
The main garden is fenced, including the parking area which will easily take two cars, and we provide a barbecue and garden furniture so you can make the most of the good weather. There is substantial land outwith the stock fence, where you can enjoy a bay side fire or simply take in the view. The cottage is the perfect place to launch kayaks, canoes or dinghies. The water comes right up to the edge of the garden at High water springs, so boating couldn’t be easier and when you arrive back you can simply pull the boats up onto the garden.
Downstairs is a kitchen/diner with new oak furnishings and utility off. There is a sitting room with satellite TV, DVD player and docking station for IPods/MP4 players, a twin bedded room and a bathroom, with bath and shower.
Upstairs you will find a double bedroom, shower room and twin bedroom - all with stunning views towards the Applecross Peninsula. There is a cot, high chair and safety gates under one of the twin beds, as well as a DVD player, a docking station and a large selection of board games.

When approaching from the Bridge or if you came over the Kylerhea ferry, drive towards Broadford on A87. You go over a narrow bridge as you enter Breakish. Continue until you pass the Red Skye Restaurant on your left. Turn immediately right and drive straight on, taking care as this is a narrow road with passing places and several blind summits. There is a slightly crooked crossroads, which you continue over. Oystercatchers will be directly in front of you as you cross the lower road. There is a large sign on the edge of the property. Proceed slowly about 15 metres towards the water’s edge and you will be able to go in the gate to the cottage.
When approaching from Broadford, take the A87 signed towards Kyle of Lochalsh/Kyleakin you will come out into the 40mph zone and then pass over a narrow bridge, giving way to oncoming traffic. Take the first left to Lower Breakish immediately after passing a full-size plastic horse (!) on your left. After approximately 500m you will come to a crooked crossroads; take the left turn and proceed carefully as there are 2 blind summits, towards the water. Oystercatchers will be directly in front of you as you cross the lower road. There is a large sign on the edge of the property. Proceed slowly about 15 metres towards the water’s edge and you will be able to go in the gate to the cottage.
