Welcome to Colgrain Holiday Cottage, Edinbane, Isle of Skye



Edinbane is a pretty small village half way between Portree and Dunvegan overlooking Loch Greshornish. The Edinbane Inn and the Lodge Hotel both serve delicious meals and there is also the well known Edinbane Pottery, not bad for a small village! The Edinbane Inn was taken over in early 2012 and has had a drastic makeover. It now regularly hosts live music sessions and visitors are even invited to bring their own instruments on certain nights.

Edinbane is ideally situated for easy access to Portree, Dunvegan and both the Waternish and Trotternish Peninsulas. Places that are a "must to visit" are Dunvegan Castle and the stunning coral beach beyond it (about 10 minutes by car), and the village of Stein. Travelling along the Trotternish Peninsula is the township of Uig, Staffin with its pretty beach and of course the famous "Old Man of Storr".

The world famous Three Chimneys restaurant is an easy ride from Colgrain, be sure to book well in advance for any special occasions.

Colgrain is a beautifully appointed detached home suitable for 8/9 people. It stands in half an acre of fully enclosed grounds, perfect for pets which are very welcome - with uninterrupted views down to Loch Greshornish.

Accommodation

The house has a really light and spacious lounge with TV, Sky TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi, iPod Docking station and a stereo. There is also a lovely dining room which has patio doors leading to a large decked area with garden furniture. A family room provides additional accommodation with a bespoke sofa bed which converts into an exceptionally comfortable double bed. The layout of the house means that this room does not have to be used as a thoroughfare and so it can be kept really private. The kitchen is fabulously well equipped, there is an American style fridge freezer and many cooking aids including food processor, slow cooker, coffee machine etc. There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier in the shed outside.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a king size bedded room with en-suite bathroom, one room with either a super king sized bed or two single beds, and a further bedroom with bunk/twin beds. There is also a high quality 'pull out' bed suitable for a young person up to mid teens. In addition there is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

All heating, lighting and fuel costs are included in the tariffs shown. Bedding, towels and tea towels are all provided. Pets are very welcome.

Outside

The house is set in about half an acre of land, mostly laid to grass. The decking area (off the dining room) has a table, two benches and chairs which can comfortably seat eight people. There is also a drying line for guests to use.

Tariff/Prices

From £445 - £895 per week, depending on season.

Season

Open all year round.

Normal changeover day is Saturday. Short breaks may be available off-peak, ask us.

Lettings commence at 4.00 p.m. on the first day of your holiday (Saturday) and end at 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure (Saturday). Fortunately, our keyholder lives close by but obviously she needs time to prepare the cottage for incoming guests.

Full contact details for the keyholder will be provided with all confirmed bookings so that you can make any arrangements to gain access if you will be arriving later than 4.00 p.m.

How to Book

If you want to make a provisional booking, please either use the enquiry form, email or ring us to confirm dates, details in party, pets etc.

When we have been able to confirm that the property is available as required, we will ask you to send us a deposit of 30% of the holiday costs plus any extra for pets. We will then send you a holiday confirmation form and receipt for the deposit. Please check these carefully to be absolutely sure neither of us have made any mistakes.

We ask that you pay the balance of your holiday costs six weeks (42 days) prior to the commencement of the holiday (this date will be stated clearly in the holiday confirmation form we send you). If you are making a late booking and your holiday is due to start within six weeks we will ask you to pay the full amount of your holiday. We will of course send you a receipt for this.

At the moment we cannot accept credit card payments.

Location - How to Find Us

From Portree, follow the A87 north towards Uig (see map). Turn off to the left (where there are signs to Borve on the right) to follow the A850 towards Dunvegan. After about 5 miles you will enter the village of Flashader. Edinbane is the next village along. On entering Edinbane, take a left turn to the shop following the brown tourist sign to the Edinbane Pottery. Go past the village shop on the left and follow the road round through the village, Colgrain is less than half a mile along this road on the left hand side.
