The Bothy is a modern, three-bedroomed, self-catering holiday cottage built in traditional Scottish style situated some seven miles from Portree. Well-appointed and comfortably furnished with heating in all rooms, it occupies an elevated position above the single-track Braes Road (B883) overlooking the beautiful Sound of Raasay.
Surrounded by working crofts in a quiet and tranquil location, traffic congestion only occurs when the sheep walk down the road. There are magnificent views from all windows in the house.
The Aird, the attractive winged-shaped peninsula is within easy walking distance where, at low tide, the adventurous can access deep and mysterious caves. The Bothy is situated on the eastern slopes of Ben Lee providing pleasant hill walks right on the doorstep.
The Bothy is situated in a quiet and historic area of Skye known as The Braes on a road which ends at Loch Sligachan. It is close to working crofts with usually more sheep on the road than cars. Many lovely beach and hill walks are readily accessible and the strange winged-shaped promontory called The Aird which can be seen from all the rooms in the house has fascinating caves and rocks to explore and is a few minutes walk away.
Skye's busy and attractive capital, Portree, is only 7 miles away and offers holiday makers all amenities in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Approximately 6.5 miles after the Sligachan Hotel you come to a very sharp left hand bend and bridge. On the bend and about 20 yards before the bridge is a right hand turn that is sign posted to Braes. Travel half a mile on this single track road to the T junction and turn right. You are now on the B883.
Follow this road for a further 5 miles (ignoring the left hand turn to Camas Tianavaig) until you get to the next left hand turn signposted Gedintailor, Balmeanach and Peinachorrain (at this point you can see The Bothy ahead and to the right) continue ahead and take the second right hand turn signed The Bothy and Easan Dubh. The Bothy is the first house on the right, through the gate.
Approximately 2 miles from Portree you come to the B883 turn-off on the left. The road is single track and drops steeply, bending to the left and over the River Varragill. At the top of the rise follow the road to the right (ignoring the turn off straight ahead to Penifiler. A little further on you are joined by the road from the south on the right).
