A warm welcome awaits you at our cosy family run hotel, nestled on the harbourside in the idyllic village of Kyleakin. All 9 bedrooms are en-suite and have digital TV's, hairdryers & tea/coffee making facilities. For the comfort of all our guests we are no smoking throughout. Both lounges, the breakfast room and most bedrooms enjoy lovely views across the harbour to Castle Moil, the mountains beyond and miles down Loch Alsh.
With just 9 immaculately presented, en-suite bedrooms, we are able to provide that personal touch often missing in larger hotels. We are more than happy to cater for both individual holidays and group bookings - up to 22 guests in total. If you want to have the place totally to yourselves, however, we would recommend you make your block booking well in advance. For anything from a family get-together to a religious retreat, the White Heather combines a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a high standard of service, designed to make your stay with us a most memorable one.
There are 2 guest lounges for you to make use of throughout the day and evening. Highland life is all about taking life that little bit slower so why not make the most of it - pick a lounge, settle yourself in to a comfy sofa and just relax. Enjoy the view for a while, watch the fishing boats and yachts as they come and go in the harbour, the ever changing scenery as the tide goes out or the constantly shifting colours and shadows across Beinn na Caillich. There’s so much to see and yet so little actually happening you can’t help but fall in love with the area - we did!
In the morning enjoy your very own ‘breakfast with a view.’ We pride ourselves on offering a veritable feast, and when combined with that fantastic view, there really couldn’t be a better way to start your day! Whet your appetite by checking out the menu if you want.

We have free, off-road parking for all our guests.
The Family room can sleep 4-5 guests. Two Twin rooms will each take an extra single bed to sleep 3 guests. The Family room and the larger Twin rooms are also able to take the hotel travel cots, by prior arrangement, at no extra cost.
All our rooms are en-suite with showers, except 1 twin room, which has an en-suite bath, with shower above. For the comfort of all our guests, bedrooms also have a colour TV (with freesat), hairdryer and tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities. We use only Fairtrade tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar in the bedrooms, supplied by Traidcraft and Peros Ltd. In our bathrooms you will find Faith in Nature, an environmentally friendly shower gel and hand soap.
We have a small study with an iMac for guest use, free Wi-Fi accessible through the hotel, guests can access the Internet using their own laptop too if they prefer.
We also have a small 'kitchenette', again for guest use only, which has a washer/dryer, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster.
Our laundry uses only environmentally friendly products (again supplied by Faith in Nature) which do not contain the usual array of brighteners and chemicals. This means that your bed linen and towels are cleaned to a very high standard and will be free of harsh chemicals and detergents, especially important to guests with sensitive skin or those trying to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. In addition, we do not use feather pillows or duvets in any of the bedrooms, so allergy sufferers need not worry!

Tariff/Prices
Season
Open from 3rd March - 19th October 2012. (Closed Jan/Feb/Nov & December 2012).
£35 - £37 per person per night based on 2 guests sharing.
£48 - £50 per night single occupancy.
All tariffs include both a full cooked breakfast and a substantial continental buffet. The White Heather Hotel is strictly no smoking throughout.
Discounted rates are available for Group/Block Bookings.
Group Bookings
Groups wanting to hold seminars or have meetings during their stay require a block booking of the whole Hotel. In this event, then in addition to the 2 Guest Lounges, we can also offer full access to the Breakfast Room between mid-day and 6.00 p.m.
We can also offer packed lunches by prior arrangement - price/content is negotiable.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
We are aware that cancellations are often unavoidable and if we can fill your room(s) again, then any charges incurred from cancellation will be dropped - that is a promise!
We strongly recommend you take out holiday insurance.
Individual cancellation within a week of arrival - 50% of total.
Individual cancellations within 48 hours of arrival - 100% of total.
Group/Block Booking cancellations
A 10% non-refundable deposit is required on initial booking.
An additional 40% (of the total) is required 3 months prior to arrival date and is again non-refundable.
Payment in full should be received no later than 1 month prior to arrival date.
Breakfast
We pride ourselves on the quality of our breakfast (it is after all the most important meal of the day) and we feel priveleged to also offer you ‘one of the best views from a breakfast table’ anywhere on Skye!
Fresh coffee is always on the go during breakfast and a fresh pot of tea, including Earl Grey, is always on offer.
We use only Free Range eggs and Fairtrade tea/coffee/sugar and hot chocolate supplied by Traidcraft. We use Organic/FairTrade fresh fruit whenever it is available.
Two high chairs are also available in the Breakfast Room.
Dogs
We are happy to welcome well-behaved canine companions, although we do request that a few ‘house rules’ are followed, for the comfort of all our guests.
Having a pampered pooch ourselves, we appreciate how difficult it can be to offer your dog a holiday that doesn’t involve the dreaded ‘kennel’ word.
We have 2 specific bedrooms available for canine guests and their owners, which are also available for guests without a dog. For this reason it is important that you mention your dog at the time of booking and that you try to make your booking well in advance, to avoid disappointment.
We are aware that some guests may be uncomfortable around dogs, or indeed suffer from allergies, so we do have a few house rules:
- Dogs are not allowed in the guest lounges or the breakfast room at any time.
- Dogs are not to be left alone in the bedrooms.
- Dogs must be kept on a short lead when outside their bedroom.
- A one-off charge of £10 is required to cover extra cleaning costs.
Our pooch (posing for the camera) is happy to loan out her large brass cage, with freshly laundered bedding, by prior arrangement, at no extra cost. The cage is large enough to take a labrador comfortably and will easily fit in either of the 2 rooms available for dog owners.
For a small extra charge we can provide dog food if needed and for your information there is a vet at Broadford (7 miles away), who also sells all kinds of dog food and accessories.
The Obbe (the harbour inlet that runs round the back of Kyleakin, (inaccesible in parts at high tide), is a lovely walk for your dog. The Forestry Commission also have local trails ideal for dog walking.
Important: Always remember, the area holds a large population of deer and farm stock which roam freely in many places. Please keep your dog under control at all times, do not let them worry farm stock. Also please clean up after your dog, there are dog bins in Kyleakin.
Location - How to Find Us
Ater crossing the Skye Bridge simply turn left at the roundabout (1st exit) and follow the road to nearly the end of the pier - we are on your left.
