The Rowans is a modern detached bungalow surrounded by stunning countryside. We are located in a small crofting township called Garalapin and are only 2.5 miles from the main capital of the island, Portree.
Our newly built home with it's modern and stylish finish will provide you with a relaxing and comfortable stay. We are set in an ideal central location for touring the Isle of Skye.

Outdoor activities such as golf, fishing, walks and pony trekking are all located close by to Garalapin. The nearby Skeabost Country House Hotel is located on the edge of Loch Snizort and offers visitors to Skye an 9-hole golf course, beautiful gardens to wander round and trout and salmon fishing.
Whether you're travelling north to visit Neist Point on the Duirinish Peninsula or south (the Garden of Skye) to the Clan Donald Centre in Armadale you will be guaranteed stunning views and an abundance of wildlife on your journey.
Incredible rock formations are found along the Trotternish Peninsula north of Portree; Old Man of Storr, Lealt Gorge, Kilt Rock Cliffs and the Quiraing. Just past Staffin you can drive over the Quiraing to Uig, the ferry point for the Outer Hebrides.
North West Skye is home to MacLeod's Tables, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point, Glendale Toy Museum, Clagian Coral Beaches and the Waternish Peninsula. This peninsula starts with the Fairy Bridge and along the way to Waternish point you will come across numerous visitor attractions - Skyeskyns, Dandelion Designs and Shilasdair Dye House. Refreshments can be sought at Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant or at Stein Inn, the oldest inn on Skye.
And finally, a trip to Skye wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Cuillins. A stop at Sligachan will give you fantastic views of the rounded Red Cuillin and the dramatic Black Cuillin. Or take a drive to Glenbrittle beach and visit Talisker Distillery on the way.
Nearby Portree offers you a wide choice of restaurants to choose from to have a lazy lunch or a wonderful dinner. The shopping area of Portree has a variety of small gift and craft shops as well as a supermarket. Catch a bus from Portree Square to explore the island or take a wander down to Portree Harbour and experience a boat trip.
We have lived on the island for over 20 years, so be sure to ask if you need any suggestions or advice.

Our 2 double rooms are en-suite, have hospitality trays and are furnished to a high standard. All our guests have the use of our residents lounge. A comfortable and stylish room where you can relax after a day's exploring and settle down to plan your next day's adventure.

Location - How to Find Us
Situated just 2.5 miles from Portree town centre, from the A87 take the Struan Road B885 out of Portree. Passing the turning on the left for Glenmore, continue for 200m passing the fork in the road & heading to Peiness. The Rowans is approximately 100m further on and can be found on the right hand side of the road.
