Welcome to Taigh Alasdair Self Catering Holiday Cottage, Braes, by Portree, Isle of Skye
Taigh Alasdair is a traditional stone croft house which lies in the township of Peinchorran in the Braes area of Skye. The house sits in its own secluded and mature garden with stunning views of Loch Sligachan, the Red and Black Cuillins and Raasay. It has off road parking. It is an ideal cottage for 2, but can accommodate up to 4 persons.
The cottage has been renovated and the interior has been divided into 2 main rooms with an adjoining hall. Original features of the house have been retained as much as possible. The main living space is an L-shaped sitting room with kitchen/dining area. The sitting room has a wood burning stove set into a stone fireplace. There is an electric heater, if required. The sofa turns into a comfy double bed.
Accommodation
The kitchen is a mix of traditional and modern with a Belfast sink and brass taps complemented by the electric cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is a washing machine which is situated in the porch.
There is a good sized bedroom with a king sized double bed. The view from the bedroom is of the garden. The bedroom has an electric heater. All the linen is provided, but we do ask you to bring your own towels. There is a bathroom with toilet off the porch.
The fenced garden is secluded. Peinchorran is a very quiet spot which makes the garden perfect for relaxing. Garden furniture is provided.
Electricty
We read the meter at the start and end of your stay and charge you the standard rate - currently 15p a unit. If you would like a bag of logs, then let us know and we can arrange that for you.
Pets
Pets are welcome. We do request that the garden area is kept clean and that the normal countryside code is adhered to most especially at lambing time.
Smoking
Smokers are requested to smoke outside.

Tariff/Prices
£240.00 per week
A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required on booking and the balance paid 4 weeks prior to your visit. Payment by cheque to 'Mrs M Moir' at the address below.
Terms & Conditions
- Prices quoted are per week. All lets are from Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise stated. Prices include all the linen.
- The house will be available from 4.00 p.m. subject to unavoidable delays. The house must be vacated by 11.00 a.m. on the day of departure. Guests are requested to leave the cottage in a clean and tidy condition.
- All breakages must reported to the owners. Only major breakages will be charged.
- If, for reasons beyond our control, we cannot let the cottage for the week booked, all payments will be refunded in full and you will have no claim against us.
- We reserve the right to refuse entry at any time to any person who in our opinion is not suitable to occupy the cottage.
- Whilst every care is taken to ensure the details are correct we cannot accept responsibility for any errors.

Location - How to Find Us
Follow the A87 to Portree. Take the turnoff (B883) on your right marked Braes which is about 7 miles north of Sligachan and is just before the narrow Glen Varrigal Bridge. Don't worry if you miss the first turning as there is a second one a mile further down the road, again to your right. Follow the B883 for about 7 miles until you reach the township of Peinchorran. Look for the red telephone kiosk and post box which is on your right. The house is the second one down from this landmark on your left hand side.
