Coolin View Guest House is a beautiful building dating circa 1920. The house is located on Bosville Terrace in the heart of Portree, the main town in Skye, and has spectacular views over both Portree Harbour and the Cuillin Hills beyond. It is an ideal base for the business or holiday traveller alike.
Coolin View is a traditional Guest House, offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation in a mix of Double, Twin and Single rooms, plus our Family Room which comfortably sleeps 3 people. Each room has a shower en-suite, free Wi-Fi access, a TV and a hospitality tray. Guests also have use of our beautiful lounge, in which to sit and relax, read, play games or watch TV or DVDs, or to plan your day using our wide range of Tourist Information.
All our Front-facing rooms, including the Lounge and Breakfast Room, have wonderful views over Portree Harbour, always busy with fishing boats and pleasure craft, in a superb natural setting surrounded by high ground and cliffs. The town is alive with interesting shops and a wide choice of eating places, particularly specialist seafood restaurants which serve freshly landed local fish and seafood. North of Portree is the spectacular scenery of the Trotternish Ridge and the truly extraordinary pinnacles of the Quiraing, while to the South are the dramatic and mysterious peaks of the Cuillin Ridge. The influence of the sea is never far away with sea fishing, a wide range of water sports, (including diving and kayaking) and wildlife cruises where you may be able to spot seals, lovable otters, great golden eagles or even rare and mighty sea eagles. We can arrange trekking out on Highland Ponies from a safe and well supervised Centre, accompanied Day Cycle Rides or even a spot of Paintball for the more adventurous.
We can also arrange your own Private Guided tour exploring the myths and legends of this, the Misty Isle, or for those of you re-tracing your family roots, we can direct you to the Island's brand new Archive Centre. Whatever you hope to see or do during your visit to Skye, Coolin View is the perfect place to base yourself.

The house has a mixture of en-suite Twin, Double, Family and Single rooms with stunning sea views over Portree Harbour. We also offer our Standard Twin room, a quiet en-suite room at the rear of the house, and our special Budget Single room, a cosy partially en-suite room, also at the rear of the house, available as Room Only for the Budget Traveller.
Guests also have use of a lounge area in which to sit and relax or to sit and plan the days adventure.
Breakfast at Coolin View is served between 8.00 and 9.30 with a choice of breakfast to suit all tastes. Free Parking is available opposite the Guest House.

Directions to the Isle of Skye and Portree
By Road
If you come via the Skye Bridge, continue along the A87 to Portree (34 miles), then take the A855 to Staffin. Continue along the A855 through Portree (0.5 miles). You will see the Coolin View on your left.
If you come via the Glenelg-Kylerhea ferry, take the minor road north from Kylerhea until it joins the A87 (7 miles), then turn left along the A87 and continue as above.
By Ferry/Road
If you come via the Mallaig-Armadale ferry, take the A851 north from Armadale (signposted Broadford) until it joins the A87 (15 miles), then turn left along the A87 and continue as above.
By Bus
Citylink buses run to Portree from Glasgow, Fort William, Inverness, Kyle of Lochalsh, with connections from all parts of Scotland.
By Train
Scotrail will get you as far as Kyle of Lochalsh or Mallaig. From Kyle take the Citylink bus as above. From Mallaig take the ferry to Armadale, then a Highland Country Bus or a Skyeways Bus to Portree.
By Air
The nearest airport is Inverness, served by British Regional Airways. (Live arrival and departures boards at Inverness Flights). From there get the Citylink bus as above, or a train to Kyle and then the Citylink bus. Or hire a car in Inverness. If you arrive by air at Glasgow or Edinburgh you can hire a car from Easycar or 1car1.com.
