Herbusta Holiday Cottage is a well-equipped self-catering crofter’s cottage, located on a quiet road with spectacular views of the Outer Hebrides across the Minch. It has a kitchen, lounge, dining room and four bedrooms, comfortably sleeping 6 people. The property has both a bathroom and shower room. Ideal for families, it has a large tree-lined enclosed garden. There is plenty of parking and a small patio with garden furniture. Holidays here offer the perfect chance to relax, enjoy the natural beauty and history of the island, as well as abundant opportunities for climbing, walking, cycling and fishing.

Herbusta is situated in Kilmuir, just off the main Uig-to-Staffin road. It is within easy walking distance of the Skye Museum of Island Life and Flora MacDonald’s monument. A waymarker, just outside the property, leads you to a hidden corrie loch, nestled beneath cliffs where Golden Eagles can be observed.

The cottage is also within easy reach of the sea. Camas Mor and Duntulm bays provide rock fishing, whilst a sandy beach lies nearby at Staffin Bay. The Whitewave outdoor centre in Kilmuir offers kayaking , canoeing, windsurfing, climbing and archery. Herbusta’s prime location offers easy access to the Fairy Glen, Duntulm Castle, the Quairang and the Old Man of Storr, all with unrivalled scenery that have featured in many films, and stunning walks. A marked trail of fascinating Ecomuseum sites dots the coastline, including fossil beaches, dinosaur footprints and volcanic scenery.

The island’s main town, Portree, with its picturesque harbour is just a half hour’s drive away. It offers cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, a swimming pool, leisure centre, boat trips and a small cinema. For those who want to explore further afield, a ferry to the Outer Hebrides runs from Uig.

All towels, linen, heating oil, electricity and a starter pack of logs are provided within the cost of the rental.

As a courtesy to future guests no smoking is allowed inside the house. A maximum of one well behaved pet is permitted but they should not be allowed on the furnishings.

A deposit of £100 is required to reserve a week and the reservation will be confirmed by email. The deposit is non-refundable. It is recommended that holiday cancellation insurance is taken out.

Location - How to Find Us

From the Skye road bridge, proceed along the A87 to Portree. When approaching Portree town centre take a left hand turn signposted Uig (A87).

After passing through the centre of Uig turn right along the A855 towards Kilmuir for 5 miles until you reach the turn off for Herbusta, which will be on your right just at the village hall. The road sign is marked Heribusta! Follow this road for about a mile and you will find 6 Herbusta four houses along the road on your left.
